The Tax Manager is a senior-level accounting professional, typically a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), who oversees all tax-related activities within Mission Oaks Tax & Accounting. Responsibilities include:

  • Team leadership: Managing a team of tax accountants and staff, assigning tasks, reviewing their work, and providing guidance, mentorship and training opportunities. During peak periods, participating in preparation of tax returns for both business and individual clients.
  • Technology: Experienced user of industry software such as SmartVault, Ignition, Karbon, SurePrep, Lacerte and QuickBooks.
  • Tax strategy and planning: Developing and implementing tax strategies to minimize clients' tax liabilities and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations across various jurisdictions.
  • Client service: Building and maintaining relationships with clients, providing them with strategic tax advice, and ensuring their tax needs are met. Facilitating IRS income tax audits.
  • Staying informed: Keeping up-to-date on complex and ever-changing tax laws and regulations.

Availability: Full time with flexible availability; may be asked to work weekends during seasonal peaks.

The Accountant is a mid-level accounting professional, often an Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA, who prepares tax returns, analyzes financial statements, and provides general accounting support. Their responsibilities include:

  • Client communication: Advising clients about tax matters, explaining complex tax concepts in a clear and concise manner. Recommending procedural changes when advantageous for the client.
  • Financial statement analysis: Generating and analyzing financial statements to identify and resolve accounting and tax-related issues and opportunities for tax planning.
  • Tax return preparation: Preparing individual, corporate, partnership, and other types of tax returns for clients, ensuring accuracy and adherence to tax regulations.
  • Technology: Proficient in using accounting software programs such as SmartVault, Ignition, Karbon, SurePrep, Lacerte and QuickBooks for tax preparation and other accounting tasks.
  • Tax planning: Analyzing clients' financial situations to identify tax planning opportunities and recommend strategies to minimize tax liabilities.

Availability: Full time with flexible availability; may be asked to work weekends during seasonal peaks.

The Administrative Assistant provides vital administrative and clerical support to the accounting and tax teams. They handle a variety of tasks, including:

  • Client service: Scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and preparing client documents.
  • Communication: Answering phones, screening calls, and directing inquiries to the appropriate staff members.
  • Financial processes: Processing invoices, receipts, and other financial documents.
  • Maintaining office operations: Maintaining filing systems, ensuring optimum office organization, as well as handling other administrative tasks such as document copying and scanning.
  • Software proficiency: Being proficient in using various office software programs, such as word processing, spreadsheets, and email.

Availability: Full time or part-time with flexible availability; may be asked to work weekends during seasonal peaks.
